Carly Herrmann

MFA Candidate

A native of the north suburbs of Chicago, Carly Herrmann is a teacher, choreographer, and artist. Before graduating from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Ballet and a Minor in Communications, she danced with the Charlottesville Ballet, Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre’s High School Full-Time Program, and the Joffrey Ballet Academy in Chicago. She performed as a corps member with the Dayton Ballet in their staging of Swan Lake in 2018. Carly also competed in the DCYC ballet competition in 2017 and earned the “Most Outstanding Performance Award.” 

She has danced a number of feature roles including Rosa in Flower Festival in Genzano, the 2nd Shade soloist and corps de ballet dancer in La Bayadère Kingdom of the Shades, Medora in Le Corsaire,  Russian corps de ballet dancer in Serenade, José Limon's Shaker Loops, Dew Drop, Marzipan soloist, Snow corps de ballet dancer, and Waltz of the Flowers corps de ballet dancer in The Nutcracker, Mermaid sister and Ariel understudy in The Little Mermaid, Bird soloist in Peter and the Wolf, corps de ballet dancer in Raymonda, and corps de ballet dancer in Tarantella. 

Carly has also studied with a number of instructors across the country, having attended summer programs with the Milwaukee Ballet, Joffrey Ballet Chicago, Kansas City Ballet, Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre, A&A Ballet, Utah Ballet, and Ballet Chicago.  

Currently, she is an MFA Ballet graduate student and teaching assistant at the University of Utah, where she is focusing her study on dancers and mental health.
