The School of Dance Presents:
Classique
To close out the 2024-25 academic season, the University of Utah School of Dance is proud to present Classique, a journey back in time to two traditional Classical Ballet Repertory treasures. Spend an evening with School of Dance students as they transport you through these 19th century ballet classics. First, Professor Maggie Wright-Tesch (University of Utah and former Ballet West principal) will stage The Kingdom of the Shades scene from Act II of La Bayadère, originally choreographed by Marius Petipa in 1877. artÉmotion Ballet School Artistic Directors, Allison DeBona (former Ballet West first soloist) and Rex Tilton (University of Utah Adjunct Instructor and former Ballet West principal), will then bring to life the Grand Pas Classique from Paquita, originally choreographed in 1846 by Joseph Mazilier, with later revivals by Marius Petipa, Rudolf Nureyev, and Natalia Makarova. This concert will surely be the crowning jewel of the 2024-25 academic season.
