Boston Dance Theater Trainee Program

My name is Sean and I am the administrative assistant at Boston Dance Theater (BDT), a contemporary repertory company based in Boston, Massachusetts. I am reaching out because we are in the final enrollment phase of our 11 month Trainee Program, with September 2, 2025 and January 12, 2026 start dates, and thought this opportunity may be of interest to your students in your department!

The Trainee Program is a full time, tuition based, 11-month educational experience that is immersive and designed for pre-professional dancers aged 17-24 who aspire to join a professional dance company and want to take a gap year between high school or college and entering the professional world. The year consists of 3 trimesters (approximately 39 weeks) during which trainees take company class, rehearse, perform, create, and teach alongside BDT’s main company.

I personally participated in BDT’s Trainee Program back in 2022/23 upon graduating college, and am so grateful for all the professional experience I gained and mentorship that guided me to my role as a professional dancer today!

Our team reviews video applications on a rolling basis using THIS APPLICATION FORM, or, if local, artists could join us for a company class to use that as an audition!
