Carmel Dance Festival: Dancers and Choreographers Needed!

Dear University of Utah Dance Community,

I hope this finds you well and that you are enjoying the end of summer.

Carmel Dance Festival is pleased to announce our 3rd Annual Dance & Choreography Fellowship Program in picturesque Carmel Valley from December 28, 2024, to January 5, 2025. This program is generously sponsored by Carmel Dance Festival patrons, with each and every dance fellow attending on a full scholarship.

We warmly invite you to explore details on our website and kindly share the attached flyer with your fellow faculty, administrators, students, alumni, and anyone in your network who might find this opportunity enticing. We wholeheartedly encourage dancers and choreographers of all ages and backgrounds to apply, as we believe that diverse and intergenerational participation enriches the experience for everyone involved. Additionally, we strongly encourage choreographers working in genres in addition to contemporary, such as hip hop, salsa, tango, Bharatanatyam, and more to be nominated. We would love to support dance makers across a diverse range of styles.

The deadline for choreographers' nominations is September 15th, and we highly recommend submitting dancer applications by October 20th for priority review.

To be considered for the 3rd Annual Dance & Choreography Fellowship Program, choreography nominators and dance applicants can start the process by emailing Lillian@carmeldancefestival.org.

HIGHLIGHTS FROM 2023 FELLOWSHIP

HIGHLIGHTS FROM 2024 FELLOWSHIP

Following their time in CDF's Fellowship, our Choreography Fellows have achieved remarkable successes:

  • Natasha Adorlee: Restaged a piece on Ballare Carmel and created work for BalletX, Kansas City Ballet, and Joffrey Ballet's Winning Works.

  • Nicole Hennington: Awarded The Ann & Weston Hicks Choreography Fellowship at Jacob's Pillow and performed with Northwest Dance Project and Ballare Carmel.

  • Gianna Burright: Secured a Baryshnikov Arts Center Residency and participated in Hubbard Street Create.

  • Brian Golden: Became a Future Dance Festival Finalist and received the Axis Chore-Lab Fellowship.

  • Savannah Dunn: Featured in Urbanity's Free Play and Salt Contemporary Dance's LINK Audition Festival.

  • Madison Falconer: Attended the Woodworks Artists Residency and contributed to Cartier's Trinity Centennial Celebration in Shanghai.

Following their time in CDF's Fellowship, 4 of our Dance Fellows became apprentices with Ballare Carmel, one of whom was just promoted to company member!

These achievements highlight the diverse and impactful paths our Fellows have taken, showcasing their continued growth and influence in the dance community.

IN ADDITION TO DANCE & CHOREOGRAPHY, WE ALSO HAVE INTERNSHIPS AVAILABLE FOR: ARTS MANAGEMENT, COSTUME DESIGN/WARDROBE, PRODUCTION, FILM/EDITING, AND SOCIAL MEDIA.

We hope to have some interest from University of Utah dance artists this year!

Best Regards,
