Corriente Alterna, April 10 -21, 2025
Dear SOD and UofU Community,
I hope everything is going well. I am writing with joy to share an event I have been working on through my arts administration organization, PROArtes Mexico, for the last 10 months.
We are pleased to share that our most recent program, Corriente Alterna, will take place from April 10-21 across SLC and Springville Museum of Art venues.
Corriente Alterna is a performing/live arts series celebrating innovative multi-, inter-, and transdisciplinary Chicanx, Mexicanx, and Latinx creators from Mexico and the United States. This is a program by PROArtes Mexico in collaboration with loveDANCEmore and the Mexican Consulate in Salt Lake City. Corriente Alterna is supported by Creative West, the Utah Division of Arts & Museums, the Salt Lake City Arts Council, Springville Museum of Art, RDT Link Series, and Mexico's Cultural Creation and Projects Support System by Mexico’s Culture Ministry.
There will be dance, theater, and performance art presentations by local, Texan, and Mexican artists. Most activities are free to the public (prior registration required), and the few with a cost are very accessible. There are shows for mature audiences and others suitable for the whole family. SOD alumni and a few current students are involved in one or more of these events performing, presenting, and/or supporting the organizational tasks to make this happen.
I've attached a press release below with all the information, but you can also visit our website https://corrientealterna.com.mx/ to learn more about the program, artists, dates, prices, where to get tickets, etc. You can also follow us on Instagram. I have attached a press release, a poster image, and the program.
I would appreciate it if you spread the word with your family, friends, and acquaintances, as we cannot wait to share the talent of our invited artists with our SLC community. This is a humble, yet enormous effort so please help us to fill our venues. Most of the shows have limited seating (especially the free events) so we recommend registering to attend.
Thank you very much, and we hope to see you in the theaters in April!
Warmly,
Stephanie García
