Screendance Capstone: Advanced Theory and Production
The Screendance Capstone course provides in-depth investigation, theory and production of screendance and the opportunity to study with Katrina McPherson, award-winning artist/director and leading educator in the field of screendance. It also offers context and mentorship for the capstone project required for those pursuing the Graduate Certificate in Screendance through the University of Utah.
Over the course of 14 weeks, students are introduced to advanced concepts of exploration in both theoretical and creative aspects of screendance, as well as issues of intentionality, dissemination, curating and specialist analysis of this burgeoning artform. Central to the course is each student creating a screendance project that furthers the development of their own practice, supported through mentoring by Katrina McPherson.
New for Spring 2021, the course will be delivered entirely on-line, with up to 2 hours of synchronous and asynchronous class time per week, as well as one-to-one mentoring, set practical exercises and assignments, viewings, readings, and written submissions.

SPRING 2021 - COURSE SCHEDULE
The Advanced Screendance course runs Jan 23 – April 24, 2021
Classes will take place Saturdays 10 – 11.00 am MT, with an additional class hour during the week time tbc. All classes will be recorded and available to students asynchronously as necessary, with tutorials arranged on an individual basis.
Students matriculated at the University of Utah have access to university cameras and all enrolled students have access to editing software through the University of Utah for the duration of the course.
