Charles O. Anderson
Charles O. Anderson, a native of Richmond, Virginia, is the head of the dance program and producing artistic director of the B.F.A. dance company, Dance Repertory Theatre at The University of Texas at Austin as well as artistic director of the critically-acclaimed afro-contemporary dance theatre company, dance theatre X (founded in 2003). He received his M.F.A. in Dance from Temple University (2002) in Philadelphia where he lived previously. Among his achievements in afro-contemporary choreography and dance theatre, Anderson was selected as one of "25 Artists to watch" by Dance Magazineand is a Pew Fellowship in the Arts recipient. His choreography, set upon undergraduate students, has been nationally showcased twice at the John f. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts through the American College Dance Association and he has also been recognized for outstanding achievement in experimental dance theatre by the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival.
Omar Carrum
Dancer, choreographer teacher and video maker, He joined DELFOS danza contemporánea as a founding member from 1993 to 2017. He has received two times The National Dance Award as performer and Choreographer and seven grants by FONCA (National and State Funds for Culture and Arts in Mexico). In 2009 he became the first Mexican choreographer to receive the GUGGENHEIM fellowship, in 2014 he becomes a member of SNCA (the National System of Arts Creators) and from 2018 to 2020 he receives the Grant as a Creator/interpreter with trajectory from FONCA, which are two of the most important recognition for artists in Mexico. His short film Fifth Wall, co-directed with Dutch Rall was selected by the Short Film Corner in CANNES (2013), and by Agite y Sirva (2014). Faculty member of the Bates Dance Festival since 2010. He currently works in 3 main projects: ESCORPORART, WORLDROBED, and CONTINUUM.
Daniel Clifton
Daniel Clifton is choreographer, performer, musician, and teacher. He is originally from Niceville, FL, where he wrote and played music in punk and jazz bands. As a dancer/collaborator Daniel has worked with Martha Clarke, Tere O’Connor, Nicholas Leichter, Bill Young and Colleen Thomas. Clifton is a member of the Salt Lake Electric Ensemble (SLEE). SLEE’s recording of Philip Glass’s: Music with Changing Parts was released on Orange Mountain Music early 2018. In 2019 Clifton was an Artist in Residence at Sugar Space in Salt Lake City where he and Satu Hummasti co-created Lost Love Socialite Sweet Love Recluse. He has also been Artist in Residence with Lower Manhattan Cultural Council, Dance New Amsterdam, and Skite. His dances have been presented at Henry Street Settlement, Dancenow/NYC, Dance Off, Hollins University, Florida State University, The Kitchen, "Il faut brûler pour briller"Paris and Brussels/Caen, The A.W.A.R.D. Show!, American Dance Festival. Clifton has taught at University of North Carolina School of the Arts, Lehman College, Hollins University, Florida State University, New York University’s Experimental Theater Wing, the American Dance Festival, Korean Dance Festival, American Dance Festival China and Répliques in Caen, France and is happily on faculty in the School of Dance at the U.
Satu Hummasti
Satu Hummasti, originally from Helsinki, Finland, is a dancer, choreographer, writer and teacher who has performed and taught throughout the United States, Europe, South and Central America, and Russia. Her work has been seen internationally in Medellin, Colombia; Bordeaux, France; Edinburgh, Scotland (as a part of the 2007 Edinburgh Fringe Festival); St. Petersburg, Russia (as a part of the Open Look Festival 2011), Helsinki, Finland, Oulu, Finland (as a part of the Arctic Steps Festival 2015) and San Jose, Costa Rica; and nationally in New York, Boston, Phoenix, Salt Lake City, and Seattle. She performed in New York City with Fred Darsow Dance, Barbara Grubel Projects and Sari Nordman, and has worked as a freelance dancer with Stephen Koester, Mary Fitzgerald, and A. Ludwig Dance Theater. In NYC she has shown dances at Dance New Amsterdam, Chashama, The Construction Company, Sal Anthony’s Movement Salon, and at The John Ryan Theater at White Wave, as a part of the d.u.m.b.o. and Cool New York Dance Festivals. Her work has been commissioned by Compañía de Cámara Danza UNA in San Jose, Costa Rica, Repertory Dance Theater in Salt Lake City, Kannon Dance Company in St. Petersburg, Russia, and the University of the Arts in Helsinki, Finland. In Spring 2019, she was Artist-in-Residence at SugarSpace Arts Warehouse, where she premiered her most recent evening length work “Lost Love Socialite/Sweet Love Recluse” in collaboration with Daniel Clifton, Dan Evans, and performers. She is currently an Associate Director of Undergraduate Programs and Associate Professor in the School of Dance at the University of Utah.
