Pertinent Policies

Committee Makeup

The committee is comprised of the Recruitment Directors (2), and four additional members appointed by the Director. The committee must be comprised of equal representation among BFA programs. The Director may serve as chair and an ex officio committee member, or the fulltime faculty may elect a chair from the existing committee members.

Committee Charge

  • The committee chair will work with the School of Dance Business Officer to assess available funds and any restrictions on specific scholarships and share information with the committee.

  • The committee annually reviews the online scholarship application and deadline and makes revisions as necessary in consultation with the School of Dance Business Officer by September 1.

  • Scholarships for Incoming Students – The full committee reviews scholarship applications and/or recruiter recommendations, then makes decisions based on majority vote of the committee. In the event of a tie, the Director will cast a vote.

  • Scholarships for Returning Students – Once a list of students applying for scholarships has been consolidated, it will be shared with all fulltime tenure-line and career-line faculty members who will have the opportunity to provide input. The full committee reviews scholarship applications, considers any input provided by faculty, and makes final decisions regarding scholarship awards. In the event of a committee tied vote, the Director will cast a vote.

  • Appeals - Reviews all academic appeals pertaining to probation and dismissal and makes decisions based on a majority vote of the committee. In the event of a tie, the Director will cast a vote. This committee will also follow-up on processes in accordance with the School of Dance Probation & Dismissal Policy
