William Peterson is a freelance production manager and lighting designer of live events and former technical director, stage manager, and lighting designer for Ririe-Woodbury Dance Company with whom he toured nationally and internationally. He has worked for California State University Summer Arts as the Production Stage Manager for four seasons, at Weber State University as the Stage Operations Supervisor, at Salt Lake Acting Company as Master Electrician, and is an on-call Technical Director with Salt Lake County Arts and Culture. During COVID he pivoted and worked for the Salt Lake County Health Department as the manager of a Quarantine and Isolation shelter.

He holds a BA in Theatre Arts – Design/Tech from Weber State University, and during his time there received the Kennedy Center National Barbizon Award for Excellence in Lighting Design.

William is semi-fluent in Czech, 40-word fluent in Mongolian and Korean, and enjoys trail-running, traveling, and working in the arts in all its forms. He and his wife Samijo (M.F.A. in Modern Dance from the University of Utah and Certified Laban Movement Analyst) are happily raising their son Benjamin and are soon welcoming another addition to their family. They co-own VAMP Productions operating in Northern Utah for dance concerts, conferences, and other live events. He is thrilled to be joining the School of Dance.
