The University of Utah School of Dance would like to welcome our new faculty members, Pablo Piantino, Kate Mattingly, Christine McMillan, and Molly Heller! The School will also be saying goodbye to some beloved faculty members: Michael Bearden, Sharee Lane, Steve Rasmussen, Katie Scherman and Jennifer Weber.

This past Fall, Eric Handman, Associate Professor and Director of the U’s Modern Dance MFA Program, received the 2016 Faculty Award for his excellence in research from the College of Fine Arts, as well as the Campus Incentive Seed Grant which allowed for his groundbreaking research in digital choreography to come to fruition this year.

This February, the School of Dance at the University of Utah is honored to welcome Gino Grenek of the Stephen Petronio Company for an exciting residency with dancers from both the Modern Dance and Ballet programs.

In September, Repertory Dance Theater put out a call for local choreographers. Three of the four choreographers are from the University of Utah’s School of Dance, Eric Handman, Nichele Van Portfleet, and Nick Blaylock.

Visiting Guest Artists Gabrielle Lamb and Katie Sherman, both honored with Princess Grace Awards for Dance and Choreography, will premiere new works on the Utah Ballet dancers at the University of Utah.
