Most questions students have can be answered by the policies on this page. Students may also direct questions to the School of Dance Front Office or info@dance.utah.edu. If students need support specific to any of the topics below, they are encouraged to reach out to the appropriate Director of Undergraduate Studies (DUGS).

Primary point of contact for issues relating to the Student Advisory Committee (SAC), the School's belonging and equal opportunity efforts, and the School's culture and community.

DUGS (Academic Affairs & Curriculum Committee Chair)
Primary point of contact for issues surrounding degree completion: minors, transfer credits, curriculum exceptions, reduction of credit, etc. (Note: if a student needs a permission code, they should go directly to the Permission Code Request form below.)
Serves as the School of Dance Curriculum Committee Chair and represents the School on the College of Fine Arts Curriculum Committee. Works with the Director on establishing School curricular priorities and processes.
Policies & Forms
These policies and forms are designed to be a resource for information concerning requirements and policies. The faculty reviews these documents on an on-going basis to make changes they deem necessary to reflect current practices, expectations, and changes in University policies.

Student Attendance Policy should be reviewed and students who have additional absences should complete the Extenuating Circumstances Request.

All Ballet BFA majors are expected to adhere to the dress code for each type of class.

The Course Credit Reduction Form is used by students to reduce credit in certain studio technique courses.

The Curriculum Exception Form is used by students to propose course substitutions for transfer classes or other University of Utah coursework.

Students and instructors in the School of Dance are expected to follow the SOD Grading Policy.
Students registered for courses in the School of Dance may appeal a final grade in accordance with University Policy 6-100. Note that students must demonstrate that the grade was either a mistake or “arbitrary and capricious.” The appeals process can be found as part of the SOD Grading Policy.

Any student who is anticipating a long-term absence of one or more semester must complete the Leave of Absence form for faculty approval.

Lockers can be reserved in the MCD locker rooms by completing the Locker Agreement.

All School of Dance students who are cast in productions must abide by the Performer Etiquette and Conduct Code.

Students needing a Permission Code for a School of Dance class should request that using the Permission Code Request.

Students must complete the Student Information Sheet at the beginning of every academic year.

Current students should use the Student Studio Request form to reserve studio space. Students should also review the Studio Scheduling Policy and complete a C*Cure Access Form (if necessary).
